First off - if you haven't pre-ordered yet on Amazon, you might want to after reading this article. One thing that has remained consistent in my 14 years covering the .hack franchise is that Famitsu always, and I repeat ALWAYS, drops .hack game news on you like a fat grunty. In the latest issue of Famitsu Weekly it was confirmed that .hack//G.U. Last Recode will have a brand-new 4th part of the series, entitled "Dreams Of Snakes That Connect The World."

Via RPGSite.net:

Vol. 4 "Dreams Of Snakes That Connect The World" Storyline (WARNING: TRILOGY SPOILERS)

A year and 3 months after the events of Vol.3 Redemption, Haseo logged back into The World R:2, and found Ovan frozen in an ice block inside a new Lost Ground named the Great Cave of Cua Holm. Haseo tried to break the ice but was unsuccessful, so he gathers his old friends again on an adventure to rescue Ovan.
A New Character Emerges... Kusabira
Vol.4 will introduce a brand-new character named Kusabira (voiced by Sumire Morohoshi), a mysterious girl who suddenly appeared at front of Haseo and seems to know something about the Great Cave of Cua Holm. Haseo will also gain another new form in Vol.4, called the 5th Form.
It is unknown how long this 4th volume will be. An entire game's worth of new content? An extra few hours? We'll update as more information is released. Also, note Vol 4 is confirmed for the Japanese release and if there's new voice over work that needs to be recorded for Vol. 4, it may push out the release date for the English localization in the US, EU, AU, and Canada. More details around that will also be shared when revealed.

Also announced for the Japanese release, .hack//G.U. Last Recode will have a preimium edition that will include all the games soundtrack music, a "secret file booklet" containing newly written stories about Vol. 4 and some other goodies.

Last Recode will be out in Japan on November 1st.

So, dothackers, .hack//G.U. has officially graduated from a Trilogy to a Tetralogy. Get excited - this is no longer just an HD remake. More details to follow. Pre-orders for hack//G.U. Last Recode are up on Amazon for $39.99.
