Universal Studios Japan Breaks Ground In Osaka For Super Nintendo World

Universal Studios Japan announced the ground breaking of the Super Nintendo World area within the Osaka theme park earlier this week. The Mario themed area is projected to be completed by 2020, in time for the influx of people visiting Japan for the Olympics. Studio Ghibli ‘Totoro’ Theme Park Slated to Open in Japan in 2020

Studio Ghibli, the Japanese company behind the creation of such beloved animated flicks as My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Ponyo, has announced plans for a theme park to open in 2020. The 200-hectare site will be constructed in Nagoya city, Aichi prefecture, according to Governor Hideaki Omura at a press conference on June 1. There will be no amusement park rides, but the attraction will be set “in the world of Totoro” said co-founder of Studio Ghibli and producer Toshio Suzuki. Read full story...

Uncovering the Secrets Behind Ninja Techniques

Authentic documents that cover details about ninja missions and techniques were recently discovered in a town in western Japan. Japanese historians agree that these are important documents because they prove that the profession of ninja (those who secretly conducted espionage, sabotage and assassination) was something passed down for generations. Ninja clans were especially prevalent in the cities of Koka and Iga in Mie Prefecture but diminished during the Edo Period (1603-1868) until they no longer existed well into the Meiji Period (1868-1912).
