Netflix to launch in Japan in 2016

Japan is finally getting Netflix! Although it won't be until the end of 2016. Most Japanese or foreigners living in Japan have been able to get access to Netflix via VPN to the U.S. Netflix platform. But this official launch removes the need to jump around network hoops, finally.

“With its rich culture and celebrated creative traditions, Japan is a critical component of our plan to connect people around the world to stories they love,” said Reed Hastings, chief executive officer at Netflix. “As we expand into Asia, we’re excited Netflix members increasingly will have access to some of their favorite movies and TV shows no matter where they are.”

No details on licensing agreements for movies or television have been released yet. Source
